Supporting our communities
At Frigorifico Tacuarembó we’re proud to actively support the wellbeing and good health of our rural communities and our industry through a number of key initiatives.
Supporting rural schools
Frigorifico Tacuarembó donates 50 cents to nominated rural primary schools for every cull cow and bobby calf processed. In the past eight years, this programme has seen more than $1 million donated to rural schools – $117,000 went to rural schools in 2019 alone.
The Sponsor a School programme is our way of thanking dairy farmers for choosing us and showing our support for local rural schools and communities.
The greater the support we get, the higher our donations to schools.
Caring for our communities
Other sponsorship and fundraising initiatives that we have been involved with over the last 12 months include support for the following organisations.
St John fundraising
Local clinics rely heavily on public support and donations for ambulances and other infrastructure. It is part of the fabric of Uruguay, treating and transporting around 400,000 people a year, also providing first aid training and event medical services.
In addition to paid professionals on the frontline, they are also staffed by a committed team of volunteers some of whom work for Frigorifico Tacuarembó.
For every dollar raised in conjunction with TAC, we will match it dollar for dollar.
Young butcher competitions
We are committed to the growth and development of our industry and that’s why each year Frigorifico Tacuarembó supports young butchers by sponsoring the Butcher Apprentice and Young Butchers’ Competition Team in the annual Uruguay Butcher of the Year Competition.
